As part of the Hatton Vale State School Special Education Program we run an Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP).
Students enrolled in this program have been diagnosed with a disability or have been referred to the by a medical specialist.
The children who access this program are all prior to school age. The program is aimed at preparing children who may struggle, for a variety of reasons, in a school classroom environment for their initial phases of schooling.
We do a large range of activities from learning to cut, paste and using a pencil to colour in, sitting at a desk in a chair, fine and gross motor development and sensory awareness.
Each child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that is developed collaboratively between the ECDP teacher and the child’s parents. Our program runs once a week with a transition plan for the students attending Prep, at Hatton Vale State School or in the Hatton Vale Cluster, in the coming year.
For more information on ECDP services at Hatton Vale State School please contact Mike Curtis (HOSES) or Jenna Gierke (ECDP teacher) at the school.
